I Don’t Want to Talk About It! Adolescence and Autism Spectrum Disorder
Friday, October 21, 2011 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EDT)
Parenting a child on the spectrum through adolescence brings new challenges and concerns, but the issues related to sexuality are especially concerning. Lack of understanding societal rules surrounding appropriate sexual behavior can hold significant negative consequences, among them the potential for becoming exploited or becoming involved with the legal system. This presentation will provide parents with strategies to overcome obstacles to communication with your child, information about what and how you should teach and additional educational resources. Topics will also include masturbation and important components of healthy sexuality.
Registration is at 6:30; the program will begin promptly at 7 p.m.
