The process of hydraulic fracture stimulation, also known as ‘fracking’, has received much attention in the recent years. The Colorado School of Mines American Association of Petroleum Geologists Student Chapter (CSM-AAPG) in association with Coloradans for Responsible Energy Development (CRED) invites all community members to attend this public session on hydraulic fracturing. The purpose of this event is to provide insights into the function and practice of hydraulic fracture stimulation in the oil and gas industry.
The two-part event will start with a screening of Phelim McAleer’s FrackNation documentary and follow with a panel discussion to answer questions related to hydraulic fracking from the audience. The panel will be composed of a number of reputable professionals including Dr. William Fleckenstein, CSM Petroleum Engineering Interim Department Head, and Dr. Steve Sonnenberg, CSM Geology Department Boettcher Distinguished Chair Professor.
