Humanity+ @ Beijing 2013
Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM (PDT)
Humanity+ conferences explore innovations of science and technology and their relationship to humanity. Recent conferences have been held at San Francisco State University, Polytechnic University in Hong Kong, Parsons The New School for Design in New York City, California Technology Institute, and Harvard University.
We are are scheduling Humanity+ @Beijing for July 28th primarily because of the Artificial General Intelligence conference (AGI13) to be held in Peking University the following week. We anticipate that some speakers and attendees from AGI-13 will wish to attend Humantiy+ @Beijing as well. The IJCAI conference, a very large international AI conference, is also held the following week, and will also be a source of Humanity+ @Beijing attendees. We have also been in touch with the organizer of TedX Beijing, who has offered to help us recruit attendees from his network.
The conference will likely run from 9AM to 5pm, with a 2 hour lunch break. Most talks will be 30 minutes in length, and there will also be morning and afternoon panel discussions in which the audience can interact with the speakers.
The precise roster of speakers remains to be determined, but some speakers who have already committed are:
Dr. Ben Goertzel (http://goertzel.org), who will give talks on How to Build Generally Intelligent Robots and How AI can Help Radically Extend Human Lifespan
• Dr. David Hanson (http://hansonrobotics.com), who will speak on Creating Genius Machines, and will bring a humanoid robot to help give his presentation
• Adam Ford (http://lifeboat.com/ex/bios.adam.a.ford) organizer of multiple Humanity+ and Singularity conferences in Australia, who will give A Brief Introduction to the Singularity
