Event Details

This yeat marks the 40th Anniversary of the County's Human Relation Commission and we intend to celebrate in grand style at this year's Human Relations Awards Breakfast which will be held on Friday, September 28th at the Holiday Inn (formerly the Wyndham Hotel) in San Jose.

For some years now we have seen a significant trend towards the utilization of arts and culture in promoting social justice concerns. Demographic shifts have greatly impacted the fabric of cultural, social and political life here in Silicon Valley. We have, therefore, choosen as this year's theme "Arts, Culture and the Affirmation of a Multicultural Community".  And who better to to speak to this topic than this year's outstanding keynote speaker LUIS VALDEZ, noted theater director, playwright and social justice advocate!  Also featured in the program will be popular jazz singing chanteuse,  Cheryl Scales and a special performance by Tabia, an African American Theatre ensemble.

We are also pleased to announce the following individuals and organizations that will be honored for their exemplary use of arts and culture in promoting social justice and positive human relations in Santa Clara County. AND THE AWARDEES ARE...
