Ready to put Flash behind us and move forward with the canvas element?
Summary: This two-hour class is for front-end developers. We'll
discuss the current and potential uses of Canvas in HTML5
graphics directly in HTML -- no Flash needed! We'll explore writing
code for drawing 2D figures, detecting user input for interactivity,
and building animations. Then we'll look at some of the coolest new
Canvas implementations, including 3D graphics.
Goal: The goal of this class is to get you started with canvas and
give you a roadmap of resources to start you off on your own
Format: The format of this class will be presentation. You may wish to
bring a laptop, but it is not required. The instructor will go over the common uses of canvas, explore examples, review librairies and do some live coding demonstrations.
The course materials will include take-home lists of relevant examples, resources, online tutorials and libraries.
Instructor: Robyn Overstreet is a web developer and training
professional. She teaches web technologies in a wide variety of
contexts, from corporate trainings to undergraduate courses, and
currently teaches for Zend Technologies and Marakana, Inc., as well as
consulting independently. She holds a Masters degree from NYU’s
Interactive Telecommunications Program.
Recommended Prerequisite: To benefit from this class you will need to
have experience with HTML, along with a basic background in either
