The Workshop:  How to Facilitate High Performing Teams   - Igniting Team Engagement, Alignment, and Results 

Friday and Saturday, August 15 and 16, 8 am to 5 pm, Wild Palms Hotel, Sunnyvale, California

Facilitators guide group process toward shared outcomes with high participation, ownership, creativity, and high value/ return on investiment.  - Adapted from Principles of Facilitation by David Sibbet.

This two-day experiential workshop equips participants with the mindset, strategy, and tools to facilitate Agile and other teams in achieving their intended results. Takeaways include:

  • How facilitation fuels team performance and ignites business results;
  • Design meeting spaces for focused interaction and launch team meetings for success; 
  • Facilitate rapport and team interaction to foster engagement and collaboration;
  • Use questions, listening, rapport, and visual records to focus attention, encourage systems thinking, and document what the team produces;
  • Apply a practical model for forming and sustaining Agile and other teams, clarifying focus at each stage of the team's work, and resolving common impediments in Scrum ceremonies and other team meetings;
  • Develop a facilitation map and agenda for Scrum ceremonies, and for Agile team start-up;
  • Facilitation tools for reaching and sustaining high team performance;
  • Applying these facilitation tools at your company.

About the Workshop Leaders

 

Susan Berry, MA, and Randy Thomas, PhD, are Partners at Aligned for Results, LLC, where they help people craft a compelling vision for their company, team, or community, and use engaging processes to bring their vision to life.  

S BerryAs an experienced facilitator, instructor, and program manager, Susan’s quest is how to make the most of diversity while unleashing the energy of common intent.  She  draws on prior experience as UN World Health Organization Staff Development and Training Officer, Training Consultant for the US Office of Personnel Management, and Director of Ed/Tech Service for Rural Community Assistance Corporation, as well as training in facilitative leadership, advanced meeting facilitation and interactive conference design from Interaction Associates.  

R ThomasIn addition to his research and technology background (a former Principal Investigator and fellow at UC Berkeley), Randy has taught and facilitated for approximately 30 years during work for UC, the UN, as visiting scholar and adjunct at several European Universities, and in private practice as a partner at Aligned for Results, LLC.  Randy first became interested in team dynamics while working with development and engineering teams in the Bay Area and nationally in the 1970’s and ‘80s, and in subsequent years in both IT and non-IT contexts in the US and abroad.

Both are UC Berkeley Extension Agile Management Program grads, and have CSM®, CSPO®, NLP Practitioner, and Innovation Games® CCA certifications.
