How to Create Video Procedures
Best Practices That Work

Locations

Apr-10th San Francisco, California
Apr-17th Los Angeles, California
Apr-24th Houston, Texas

Learn How to Video Your Procedures

You will learn how to make video procedures that show and guide the viewer through a step by step process. You will work with your Smart Phone and the latest hand-held and hands-free pocket video camcorders. You will also become proficient with quick and effective techniques for ensuring that your videos have good light and sound.

Learn How to Capture Your Technique

Most importantly, you will master two core practices for creating "Knowledge Quality" video procedures that you can use over and over again to extend your reach as a trusted resource:

First you will master "showing" not "telling". In the example shown in these video frames the person in video procedure captured themself showing how to operate the transfer switch, while they operated the switch. This promotes confidence to the viewer and shows technique that is not delivered by telling or by writing procedures

Second, you will learn to develop your story telling skills that are needed to communicate with authenticity to keep the viewer interested relative to boring, scripted training videos.

Learn How to Video Other OJT Events

In this class you will learn how to setup video templates for other On-The-Job (OJT) events that can be captured by yourself and others including:

  • Video Field Observations
  • Video Document Troubleshooting
  • Video Field Audits
  • Video Site Surveys
  • Video Tutorials and Software Operations

Learn How to Share on Mobile Devices

You will learn how to extend your reach as a trusted resourece by always making yourself available in video form that is accessable right from any mobile device. In the class you will create a KnowledgeKeeper account for your company, login, upload your video and securely share that video with your colleagues and co-workers.

Writing operational procedures is too slow and does not fit well into "internet speed" business cycles.

Reading even the best-written procedures causes mishaps due to the inability to transfer technique, history and nuances. KnowledgeKeeper is a hosted web service that company employees use to generate their own videos of procedures and privately share those videos with other company employees.

Because video compresses time, an employee who banks just 15-20 minutes of video a week into the company KnowledgeKeeper can rapidly transfer an entire year of operational experience. The cumulative effect of a group of mechanics, operators, technicians and electricians using video cameras as "pencils" results in a company KnowledgeKeeper that is the cornerstone of human performance in day to day field operations. www.knowledgekeeper.com
