When Dreams Defy Reality:

How Social Entrepreneurs Spread Innovation

Monday, March 18, 2013

7:30 PM – 8:45 PM

Featuring

Beverly Schwartz

Beverly Schwartz has designed a wide range of marketing campaigns around the most critical issues of our time – from HIV/AIDS prevention to education reform. Schwartz works as the VP of Global Marketing at Ashoka, a global organization that works to ensure that social entrepreneurs and their innovations inspire a generation of changemakers who will support and sustain large-scale social change.  Schwartz has led Ashoka’s Global Marketing team to pioneer awareness around the idea of social entrepreneurship and establish Ashoka as a leader in the field.

Her recent book, Rippling: How Social Entrepreneurs Spread Innovation, presents some of today’s most innovative and effective approaches to solving social and environmental challenges, and clearly demonstrates that when empathy, creativity, passion, and persistence are combined, significant and life-altering progress is possible. Rippling brings the four qualities of social entrepreneurs and the five principles of system change to life by sharing compelling stories of everyday people who have made real changes around the globe.

The event will be held at GMU’s Arlington Campus, Founder’s Hall Room 113
