Hour of Code
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
TampaDev is excited to work with Code.org in their effort to organize a massive campaign to get 10 million students of all ages to participate in the Hour of Code this December.
We will have wireless internet connectivity but at this time we will not be able to provide devices for attendee use. Please be sure to bring your own device to the event.
What's the Hour of Code?
It's a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demisty "code" and show that anyone can learn the basics, to be a maker, a creator, an innovator.
Why Computer Science?
Today, we're surrounded by technology. Many students have their own tablets and phones—and yet, few are learning how computers actually work. Simple computer science activities can help nurture creativity and problem solving skills. By getting a feel for computational thinking early, students will have a foundation for success in any future career path.

The Tampa Bay area has a lot of great user groups run by impassioned and dedicated people. TampaDev is here to unite those user groups so that you, the members of the broad developer community, have a single and centralized resource to find meeting and user group information. Think of us as your one-stop-shop for all your development user group needs.
Unlike most user groups, we don't hold regular meetings. Instead, we aggregate meeting information and can help those groups we work with in finding speakers, sponsors, and other adminstrative trivia (so they can focus on running a great group). We also sponsor several major developer events throughout the year.
