MAYA BENSEN

Recipient, "2014 Outstanding Advocate for Science & Technology Award"

The Science Museum of Long Island recently named Maya Bensen as a recipient of a 2014 OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE FOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AWARD. Maya will be honored on Wednesday, April 30th at the Westbury Manor for her outstanding contributions toward the advancement and education of science and technology.

Please help support Maya in her goal to raise a minimum of $1,000 for this important fundraiser.

Proceeds support the Science Museum of Long Island's programs and services for the children and families of the region!

Here is a summary of Maya's impressive list of accomplishments:

Maya Bensen helps families and businesses on Long Island and the New York metro area with insurance and financial solutions through New York Life Insurance Company.  As an agent licensed in the state of New York, she provides retirement, business and estate planning.

Born and raised in Moscow, Russia, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Economics and Management of Research and Development from State Technical University, Maya came to this country in 1995. She has an MBA with Distinction in Finance with concentration in Investments and Portfolio Management from Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University.

Maya is an active member the Garden City Chamber of Commerce and a member of the PTA Arts In Education Committee in Garden City Middle School. Last year, as part of New York Life’s “Pitch in for Baseball” initiative, Maya helped organize Garden City Athletic Association’s donation of a substantial amount of baseball equipment to victims of Super Storm Sandy.

Maya became a supporter of the Science Museum of Long Island after visiting the Museum last summer and decided to dedicate her efforts to promoting advancement of and education in the fields of science and technology here on Long Island. As a committee member of Science Museum of Long Island, she helped in organizing the Museum’s Big Bang Ball and is looking forward to be an instrumental advocate of the museum’s mission in the future.

Maya lives with her husband and three wonderful sons in Garden City where she is very active in the community.
