ELIZABETH MARTONE

Recipient, "2014 Outstanding Advocate for Science & Technology Award"

The Science Museum of Long Island recently named Elizabeth Martone as a recipient of a 2014 OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE FOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AWARD. Liz will be honored on Wednesday, April 30th at the Westbury Manor for her outstanding contributions toward the advancement and education of science and technology.

Please help support Liz in her goal to raise a minimum of $1,000 for this important fundraiser.

Proceeds support the Science Museum of Long Island's programs and services for the children and families of the region!

Here is a summary of Liz's impressive list of accomplishments:

Elizabeth Martone is currently a Senior Vice President at BankUnited, NA and manages a Commercial Private Banking team in Manhattan with a primary focus on developing and managing banking relationships with property management companies.

In this position Elizabeth relies on her depth of technological knowledge gained over the past fifteen years in the banking industry, a career that includes positions at North Fork Bank, Capital One, NA, Herald National Bank and The Montauk Group.

“Technology is the backbone of the services we cultivate, provide and support in the relationships we maintain with our clients in order to afford them the ability to have more productive, efficient and effective means of managing their day to day operations within their companies.”

Elizabeth has always held a deep and abiding interest in science and technology.  After graduating from Siena College in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and with minors in both Education and Philosophy, Elizabeth worked for two editorial firms, one of which was McGraw Hill in NYC where she was an editor in the Science Department.

Inspired by her family who always emphasized the importance of giving back to the community (her father-in-law Nicholas L. Martone was honored at the annual Long Island YMCA Gala in 2009 and for the family's long term commitment to the YMCA as well as for the financial contribution towards the establishment of the Martone Children's Center and her mother-in-law Donna Martone has spent her entire career as a teacher, educating and molding young minds) Elizabeth has truly taken that lesson to heart.  In 2008 Elizabeth used her considerable boxing skills and participated in the Long Island Fight for Charity that benefits the Long Island Community Chest to raise money to help individuals and families in need on Long Island.

Elizabeth’s other interests include spending time with her family, being outdoors, kickboxing, decorating, problem solving, shopping (of course), spending time with and connecting with her friends and watching her children learn new things.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Glen Head and currently live with her family in Glen Cove with her husband Nicholas Martone.  Together they have two beautiful young boys, Aidan (7) and Colson (6).

Elizabeth is also the oldest of four children and has three brothers Brian O'Keefe, Kevin O'Keefe & Liam O'Keefe with whom she remains very close.

The 2014 ADVOCATES FOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AWARDS takes place on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, 6pm to 8pm, at Westbury Manor.  For more information, Tracey Gittere at (516) 222-0550 or TGittere@LegendaryEvents.net
