Homestead Academy - A Two-Day Course in Kitchen Self-Reliance

This weekend intensive is designed to catapult you into a life of self-reliance through homesteading. Join Growcology and the Emerald Village Volunteers as we share the simple and effective ways to make: yogurt, cheese, butter, bread, home cleaning products, beer, salves, infusions, preserving, and healthy cooking. Special features include local farmers and food providers. with a Keynote Speech by Erik Knutzen, author of “The Urban Homestead.”

Fermentation Workshop: If you'd like to walk away with your own container of sauerkraut to start fermenting, bring your own head or two of cabbage, container, tool to compress the cabbage and something to keep the cabbage compressed inside the container

We have plenty of parking space at our venue.
What should I bring to the event?
Your own lunch
Light-clothes (Closed toe shoes and sunhat)
Notebook and Pen
Blanket for picnic
Some workshops may suggest you to bring items that allow you to "make your own" at the workshop.
This is a "Leave No Trace" event so please leave with *everything* you came with, including trash from your lunches and snacks. You can bring your own plate and cup to wash in our sink if you'd like.
Bring a dish to contribute to a potluck for dinner on Saturday evening.
