In this class students will help hollow core doors find new life as small but sturdy knock-down shelving units, ideal for light office, craft, or closet storage. We will use the versatile and effective halved lap joint (aka 'cutting slots') to join pre-ripped chunks of door together into a nifty work or storage surface. This is a knock-down, pack flat design; glue and fasteners may be added later depending on how mobile the piece needs to be in its next life. Students will receive safety guidelines and practical instruction on the jigsaw, band saw, and screw gun. Instructor will discuss notching techniques in general, and distribute designs for similar ready-make pieces.
