Tom Acitelli will be at the Museum to discuss, answer, and talk the night away about his new book, The Audacity of Hops, and guests will have the chance to speak with the brewers of Fordham & Dominion Brewing Co. while tasting their Dominion Oktoberfest, Fordham Rams Head IPA, and Dominion Oak-Aged Millennium 2009.
About The Audacity of Hops from TomAcitelli.com: “Discover the story of how America came to dominate beer stylistically in Tom Acitelli’s The Audacity of Hops: The History of America’s Craft Beer Revolution. Based on extensive research as well as interviews with the American craft beer movement’s key players going back to the 1960s, this acclaimed book is the most comprehensive chronicle yet of one of the most interesting and lucrative culinary trends in the U.S. since World War II. Acitelli weaves the story of the rise of American craft beer into the tales of trends like Slow Food and the rebirth of America’s urban areas, and paints an unforgettable portrait of plucky entrepreneurial triumph that fans of good food and drink will find refreshing.”
About Fordham & Dominion Brewing Co.: Established as a brewpub in 1989 in Ashburn, Virginia, Dominion Brewing quickly grew to a production brewery and was named one of the Top 50 breweries in the U.S. Seven years later, Fordham Brewing launched a brewhouse in historic Annapolis, Maryland, naming itself after Benjamin Fordham, who was given a charter in 1703 by Queen Anne to establish a brewery in the heart of Annapolis. These 2 award-winning Mid-Atlantic breweries came together and settled into Delaware in 2007. With over 40 years combined brewing experience, they continue to create handcrafted favorites such as Oak Barrel Stout, Double D IPA, Rams Head IPA, and Copperhead Ale.
If that isn’t enough for you, Heurich House staff and volunteers will provide tours of the Brewmaster's Castle with a focus on its owner and the history of the historic Chr. Heurich Brewing Co. It is sure to be a night to remember!
