Orange County

Sponsored by the Dolley Madison Garden Club
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Orange County was named for Prince William III of Orange, a famous Protestant King of Great Britain and Ireland. President James Madison's home, Montpelier, and the ruins of Virginia governor and U.S. Senator James Barbour's former home, Barboursville, are located in the county. The former is a restoration site of the Garden Club of Virginia, using proceeds from Historic Garden Week. The 2-acre formal terraced garden at Montpelier will be a highlight of this year’s tour, titled “Mr. Madison’s Neighborhood”. Ticket price includes admission to the following 4 properties:

  • Sommerset Plantation
