The City That Ships Built

Architectural Tour of Bath, ME

With more than 400 years of shipbuilding history, the city of Bath has become known as the City of Ships.  The historic buildings of Bath date largely from the 19th and 20th centuries, although settlement began in the mid-1600s.

Ship building and its associated trades have truly shaped the city and left their mark on the culture of the area.  Bath's downtown buildings stand as witness to the city's past written in brick, wood, mortar and stone.  On this rolling trolley tour, our guides will share the stories of some of Bath's and the nation's most prominent shipbuilders and examine the unique architectural character they've left behind, revealing a distinctive portrait of Bath as the city built by ships.

Bath, ME has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation for its architectural treasures and preservation acts that have saved much of the city's historic character.

Limited space; register early.  This tour is not recommended for children under 12.  Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE and tours run rain or shine.
