High Rock Challenge Adventure Race
The High Rock Challenge, held in memory of NYC Police Officer John Kelly, who was killed in the line of duty, is in its twelfth year.
The High Rock Challenge has become legendary for its beautiful scenery, challenging and creative obstacles and great comararderie. The course and all "mystery challenges" are designed for a two-person team. Elite athletes, weekend warriors, trail runners, track stars, parents and progeny, and you and you are invited to participate in this annual spring event along the Greenbelt's trail system in Staten Island, New York.
The High Rock Challenge adventure race covers a distance of approximately 10 kilometers. Mystery challenges that test physical and mental ability are located throughout the course. You will run, climb, crawl and most likely... get wet. The course, and mystery challenge, are different every year and are not revealed until race day. Course is approximately 10-k and no longer than 13K (unless you get lost).
Please visit the sigreenbelt.org calendar of events for weekend group trail runs, beginning in late Spring. Next Level Performance will once again offer free, weekend strength and conditioning classes in High Rock Park to prepare you for race day. The Staten Island Athletic Club (SIAC) will continue its trail running series to get you ready for traill running. These sessions are free to all High Rock Challenge registrants.
The High Rock Challenge takes place in all weather conditions. The trail system will always be affected by weather.
It Takes Two: Teams are comprised of two runners and typically have a name that aptly describes you or just has a nice ring to it- there's a space on your application to input your choice for team name.
