Heidkamp, Honduras and Hope
Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM (CDT)
Join us for Heidkamp. Honduras and Hope!, a summer evening event to honor long-time CRLN (Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America) board member Richard (Dick) Heidkamp, while also learning more about the current realities in Honduras, and looking with hope to the future with the launch of the Dick Heidkamp Scholarship Fund! We will begin with an informal outdoor social hour from 6:00 - 7:00pm, complete with beverages, substantial appetizers, and an opportunity to bid on art and handicrafts from Latin America in our silent auction. At 7:00pm we will move indoors for the program, featuring keynote speaker Trinidad Sanchez. Trinidad will share an update on continuing land rights struggles, human rights violations, and concerns regarding the use of U.S. military and police aid in post-coup Honduras. We will end the evening with a brief moment of celebration for Dick Heidkamp in recognition of his many years of enthusiastic service and leadership on the CRLN board.
