MY 35-YEAR OLD HEALTHY WIFE HAD A HEART ATTACK.
IT CLAIMED THE LIFE OF OUR UNBORN BABY.
Join us as we raise funds for research to find out WHY!
Heidi's heart attack was caused by a Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection, or SCAD for short. During a SCAD, an inner layer of a coronary artery splits. Blood seeps between the artery layers, forming a clot, and starves the heart. The result ranges from chest pain to heart attack and sudden death. Very little is known about SCAD, such as what causes it, what the risk factors are, how pregnancy is related, and how to prevent it.
However, a dedicated team of researchers at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, are determined to change that. They are looking for answers, but they need funding to further their efforts.
To help raise funds, I, along with my brother-in-law, Matt, will be riding on bicycles from Chicago, IL to Beaver Creek, CO. We begin our trek on July 26. Please suport our effort to bring awareness to this cause as well as raise funds for research.
Heidi and I are hosting an evening at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana, on July 17, 2014. Cocktails begin at 6 pm with dinner starting at 7 pm. We will be having a live auction with, among other items, various sports memorabilia and vacation packages. Come, listen to what the Mayo Clinic team has to say about SCAD and celebrate Heidi's Heart.
