What is Healthier Living

Do You Have:

  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • High Blood pressure
  • Heart Problems
  • Chronic health problems

Healthier Living is a successful program developed by and licensed through Stanford University School of Medicine.  This program is designed for people with chronic diseases or their caregivers who want to improve the quality of their life.  The workshop is highly participatory where workshop leaders guide participants to develop skills and strategies for managing their health.  It is conducted in a series of 2½ hour workshops presented once a week over a 6-week period.  The workshop includes these topics:

  • Understanding chronic diseases
  • Strategies and how to succeed in achieving your goals for healthier living
  • Methods for managing pain, stress, fatigue, depression and emotions
  • How to be more fit and eat healthier
  • Learn more effective communication skills to improve your relationships
  • Take an active role in managing and improving your medical care

  • Totally on-line and Free
  • Learn and participate from any computer with Internet access
  • Log on at your convenience 2-3 times per week for about 2 hours

Leaders Training

4 days Leaders Training 


Do you have:
•  Interest in Helping others
•  Interest in managing your health
•  Interest in leading a group
•  Chronic Health problems
•  Desire to volunteer time & skills

What you will get out of the training:
• Learn to Self-manage ongoing health
• Lead and facilitate a group workshop
• Help others learn skills to manage their health
• Receive stipend for leading workshops

Training Expectations:
•  Pay training cost
•  Must attend all 4 days of training
•  Lead at least one 6 week workshop
•  Follow guidelines for leading workshops

Included with the training:
• Leader manual, workshop CD
• Support and mentoring for leading

Kaiser Regional in Oakland- Nov. 1,2,8,9- 4 full days.
