Primary Care in Disasters 08:30-12:00
This class is geared for clinicians that work in primary care setting. Included topics are: introduction to primary care in disasters, primary approach to trauma, fracture management, wound management and disaster traige. This class is being provided by the Alameda Health Consortium. Please note that this one session occurs simultaneously as the other modules. (4 CEUs) Instruction by Alameda Clinic Consortium
Disaster Communications A 08:30-09:20; B 09:30-10:20
Become familiar with using P25 portable (2-way) radios and some of the concepts regarding radio communication during a disaster. (1 CEU) Instruction by GSA Communications Team
Disaster Triage A 08:30-09:20; B 09:30-10:20
Review concepts of triage and incorporate these concepts into developing and effective staging area for patient transport or evacuation. This module will also include scenario-based skills practice. (1 CEU) Instruction TBA
The last 15-20 min of each module include practice scenario combining participants from Disaster Communications and Disaster Triage classes.
Patient Movement A 10:30-11:20; B 11:30-12:20
Cover techniques to safely move patients with and without equipment and devices. Body mechanics and teamwork will be emphasized. This module will also include hands-on practice. (1 CEU) Instruction by Elsie Kusel, EMT-P, CPT
Fatality Management A 10:30-11:20; B 11:30-12:20
Become familiar with the County’s Fatality Plan and get hands on practice with the tools for properly storing and identifying the deceased. (1 CEU) Instruction by Alameda County Coroner’s Department
The last 15-20 min of each module include practice scenario combining participants from Patient Movement and Fatality Management classes.
*1:00 pm – 2:00 pm practice scenario with willing participants from all modules.
