THE NEW PLANS
Come January 2014, Bronze, Gold, Silver and Platinum plans will be offered by 6 insurance companies in LA County. If you already have coverage you may be able to stay put. We’ll explore what you might gain or lose by enrolling in one of these “metal” plans.
HOW TO SELECT YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN
Learn how to use a financial planning approach in choosing suitable coverage, taking into consideration premium cost, benefit design, amount of financial protection, personal needs and preferences.
THE FEDERAL SUBSIDY
Uncle Sam may help you pay for health insurance, depending on how much money you make. The tradeoff is that the plans available with subsidized coverage have a narrow provider network. If access to preferred doctors is a priority, you need to understand which plans work and which plans don’t.
Beginning 2014, no longer do we have the option of not getting health insurance. Most Americans must have insurance or pay a penalty. We’ll go over the details.

About the presenters
Michael Grodsky, AIF®, Certified Insurance Agent, is Principal of Artist Insurance Services. An Accredited Investment Fiduciary, he is also Principal of Aquarius Financial, a California Registered Investment Adviser.
Michael is a board member of Side Street Projects, a non-profit artist-run organization, and is an insurance and financial planning specialist for GYST, an artist-run company providing information and technology solutions for artists. Michael’s health insurance workshops have been hosted by non-profit organizations throughout Los Angeles County. He leads the Health Insurance 101 monthly workshop at the Cancer Support Community-Benjamin Center.
Michael earned a Bachelor's degree in Classical Guitar Performance and a Master’s in Music Theory & Composition from California State University, Fullerton. He likes swimming, noise making with friends, and dancing badgers. Married to artist Mara Lonner, they live in Los Angeles with their dogs Nancy & Henry.
