Health Extension Salon #8
Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PDT)
Mountain View, CA
Dinner, friends and two very exciting presentations focused on the promise and progress of stem cells.
John Schloendorn, PhD is on a quest to create true cell replacement therapies. He is working to replace old and damaged cells, with new cells that are (A) young, (B) genetically optimal, and (C) available on industrial scale. John will recount how he built his first start-up ImmunePath up from a pile of discarded lab equipment in his living room, to a venture capital funded 8-employee company with positive pre-clinical results, and then ultimately ended up failing to raise money for a clinical trial.
"Stem Cells, Aging and Cognitive Function - How are they Connected?"
Prof. Anne Brunet, an award-winning scientist and talented speaker who runs a 24-person lab at Stanford devoted to understanding human aging. She will report her latest results on why as we age, our stem cells lose their ability to differentiate into the cell types needed to replenish our tissues.
Dinner included with ticket to satisfy paleos, non-paleos, vegetarians and omnivores.
Beer and Wine available for $3 donation (cash only)
