Harlem's Apollo Theatre is known the world over as the birthplace of many famous performers. Houston Community College students will perform for a local version of the celebrated talent show: HCC Showtime at the Apollo @ the Heinen. The event takes place 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2013 on the campus of Central College.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, and $5 for students. The night of the event (at the door) a student ID will be required to validate this type of ticket purchase.
Winners of the competition will have an opportunity to attend the 2013 Black Histoy Committee Scholarship Gala and meet keynote spearker Terrence Howard, academy award nominatee and actor, at a VIP reception. The gala will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013, 6 p.m. at the Hilton America - Houston Hotel.

HCC Black History Scholarship Gala is one of Houston’s premier Black History Month events. Terrence Howard, critically acclaimed Broadway and screen actor who starred in movies such as: The Best Man, Crash, Idlewild, Red Tails, Iron Man, Ray and Hustle & Flow, will be the keynote speaker at the Hilton Americas - Houston, 6 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013. The scholarship gala raises funds to support deserving HCC African-American and African heritage students. Last year, 11 students were awarded a $1,000 scholarship to assist with the cost of tuition and books.
