When & Where
NY Working Families, WE ACT for Environmental Justice, West Harlem Empowerment Coalition
Working Families Organization is New York’s liveliest and most progressive organization. Formed by a grassroots coalition of community organizations, neighborhood activists, and labor unions, we came together build a society that works for all of us, not just the wealthy and well-connected. WFO fights to hold politicians accountable on the issues working- and middle-class families care about, like good jobs, fair taxes, good schools, reliable public transportation, affordable housing, and universal healthcare.
WE ACT For Environmental Justice is a Northern Manhattan community-based organization whose mission is to build healthy communities by assuring that people of color and/or low-income participate meaningfully in the creation of sound and fair environmental health and protection policies and practices. As a result of our ongoing work to educate and mobilize the more than 630,000 residents of Northern Manhattan on environmental issues affecting their quality of life, WE ACT has become a leader in the nationwide movement for environmental justice, influencing the creation of federal, state and local policies affecting the environment.
West Harlem Empowerment Coalition
is a collective of members of the Clergy, Professionals, Community Leaders and Concerned Citizens in West Harlem who have come together to identify and utilize resources in the community for the benefit of all. WHEC promotes community partnerships and connects families with the resources that they need such that each family member is equiped with the mind set, skills, job and services needed to have a quality life.
