The Story of Harvey Wallbanger:

Harvey’s namesake cocktail of vodka, Galliano L’Autentico, and orange juice was a popular tipple in so-called “fern bars” throughout the 1960’s and ‘70s. Legend has it that the cocktail was named after a Manhattan Beach surfer who had a few too many after losing a surfing competition. His inability to leave the bar without stumbling into walls earned him a reputation and a nickname, and inspired the drink.

Today bartenders from coast to coast are rediscovering this simple and iconic cocktail. Appearing on cocktail menus around the country, both in its original form or with modern-day twists, the legend of Harvey continues.
