Event Details

This year we hope to harvest and donate 50,000 pounds of backyard fruit, and to do this we need your help.

Last year over 400 volunteers helped us harvest fruit for donation to hunger relief agencies such at The Contra Costa Food Bank and other local charities. This year we hope to double our production. To achieve this goal, we need volunteer Harvest Leaders.

Each harvest (typically organized on weekends) is lead by a Harvest Leader who manages a group of 8 to 12 volunteers. This team will visit 4 to 6 backyards and harvest several hundred pounds of fruit.

During this 2 hours training session, you will learn how to manage a harvest by:

  • help volunteers understand their roles and responsibilities
  • help volunteers how to use the equipment properly
  • help volunteers how to harvest and inspect the fruit

In addition you will learn how to deal with homeowners and what to do with the harvest at the end of the day.

This is a critical job, as harvests are not possible without a leader. Please tell your friends.

We look forward to working with you to feed the many Americans that can need our help.

The entrance to the hall is located at the lower parking lot of the church. If you enter Carol Lane from Mt. Diablo Road, please go past the church and look for the green sign for Springstone School.
