Does money make you happy? Kids and family? Your work? Do you live in a world that values and promotes happiness and well-being? Are we in the midst of a happiness revolution?
Roko Belic, multi award-winning director of the Oscar-nominated Genghis Blues now brings us HAPPY, a film that sets out to answer these questions and more, taking us to over 14 countries, from the bayou of Louisiana to the desert of Namibia, from the beaches of Brazil to the villages of Okinawa. From a scientist scanning brains in his lab to a rickshaw puller in the streets of Kolkata, we learn amazing truths about happiness.
The film actually features Cohousing in Denmark, the Dalai Lama, and many more stories that reveal the true power of community.
East Bay Cohousing organizers/Cohousing Coaches Raines and Betsy are very pleased to host Director/Producer Roko Belic and crew for a sneak preview of HAPPY, in Downtown Berkeley.
Doors open at 6:30 pm; film by 7 (70 minutes), followed by discussion.
The event is now totally sold out and we can't fit anyone else.
Light local refreshments and drinks available for sale. Plus incredible T-shirts.
Become a new EBCOHO (1-year) supporting member and we'll treat you to pre-event dinner at Gather Restaurant downstairs with the filmmakers (5pm). ($30 for current supporting members). Plus we'll save the best seats for all EBCOHO Supporting Members who RSVP.
We will NOT be doing a late show, putting one together was hard enough. We're exhausted but we're happy!
When & Where
East Bay Cohousing - Raines Cohen
Join others seeking community living opportunities in the urban East Bay and San Francisco, member-led ecovillages, for raising kids or for retirement. Connect to cohousing neighborhoods where you can have privacy and know your neighbors, permanently-affordable housing cooperatives, and even group houses for shared living.
East Bay Cohousing (EBCOHO) is an umbrella group supporting people doing individual site-search and project-development efforts. 5 of the last 6 resales in Berkeley Cohousing and Doyle Street Cohousing in Emeryville have been to EBCOHO members.
We often have more events than our MeetUp-driven home page can show effectively, so please click on our Calendar to see more and join for free to get involved. There's no charge for basic membership, but supporting members get discounts on meetings, socials, and workshops, cohousing books, and Cohousing Coaching.
There's more cohousing in Oakland than any other U.S. city, and long-established built communities in Berkeley, Emeryville, and Pleasant Hill - learn about openings and new communities that you can be a part of here; find other community seekers and join forces.
We have active groups with potential sites in North Oakland, forming groups in Fremont and the Oakland Hills, and rental/resale openings in existing communities in the area, regular tours, plus occasional field trips to the extended Bay Area, Green Festival/SolFest booths, regional gatherings and more. We're the micro-region with the most existing cohousing and the most new communities happening. Join us this month for hot events with exciting speakers and discussions. Find others who share your vision for supportive neighbors. Do it for yourself, for your family, for your parents, do it for the Earth. Make 2009 the year to find YOUR community connection.
We'd be remiss if we didn't note that this event is hosted by East Bay Cohousing, and you can see others who are going there and get involved in building community:
Thank you all for your support. This event is now SOLD OUT - we can't cram in any more bodies. We will have coffee, wine, beer and food available onsite, plus some happy-making music and other fun.
