Referring to himself as the “Horn Section Leader” for Turnstone, Jeff sees his primary responsibility as making sure that his “players”, a unique blend of designers, sales people and market based Turnstone evangelists have the tools and direction they need to make noise for the brand.
Jeff’s committed to having a great time wherever he is and outside work, he enjoys sailing, hiking, biking, reading and great conversation.
Tim Hackney, Creative Director, Fairly Painless Advertising
Prior to joining FP in 2006, Tim worked for several years in Chicago as a writer for Young & Rubicam, BBDO, and JWT. Some of his experiences with these agencies include national print work for Jim Beam Brands, a regional tourism campaign for the state of Illinois (Mile After Magnificent Mile), nationally run television campaigns for Aleve pain relievers and Nestle Ice Cream products, and the development of a global print, outdoor and television campaign for Western Union. On top of all that, Tim never tires of bald jokes.
Stephen Schmakel, Co-Founder & COO, Virtue Brands
Stephen Schmakel brings over twenty years of experience in organizational structure and strategic program management in the telecommunications and technology sector to his role as Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Virtue Brands, the new Chicago-based branch-to-bottle craft cider venture.
In his role as Chief Operating Officer at Virtue, Schmakel oversees all company financials, fundraising, both individual investment and government financing, and project management.
As Founder and President of Paradigm Communications Group, a Chicago-based technology management firm, Schmakel oversaw and coordinated all aspects of the company. In his role as Manager of Program Management at ShareMedia, based in Rockville, Maryland, Schmakel managed the successful rollout of multiple consumer Internet services to increase partner revenue in fifteen European, Asian and South American countries. And during his tenure at Andersen Consulting, he honed his skills in technology consulting.
Schmakel’s extensive experience in overseeing the start-up phase of a business and program management make him indispensible to Virtue’s operations and success.
Schmakel enjoys time around the table with friends, be it a backyard bbq or a multi-course tasting menu. He is an avid snowboarder and cyclist and roots for the Yankees, a bold position for a Chicago resident.
Dr. Jason Myers, Medical Director, Lakeshore Health Partners Family Medicine
Dr. Myers is certified by the Board of Osteopathic Medicine with a specialty in Family Practice. His medical degree was attained from the Michigan State University Osteopathic School of Medicine; he also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Aquinas College. Dr. Myers completed his Family Medicine training at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Upon completion of this training, he served 3 years of active duty as a medical officer in the United States Navy.
Dr. Myers grew up in Saugatuck, Michigan. A true family man, he applies strong family values to every facet of his life and is President of the Saugatuck Board of Education. He is active in continuing education and is a current member of the following professional organizations: American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He is on the staff of Holland Hospital and sits on the Physician Leadership Council and Medical Standards Committee.
During prior endeavors, Dr. Myers was Medical Director of both Defy Medical Fitness and Defy Aesthetic Club where he actively oversaw the ancillary medical staff, therapist and trainers. Dr. Myers was a nationally recognized expert and speaker on aesthetic and laser medicine and regularly delivered talks at medical conferences for Candela Laser Corporation throughout the country.
Gordon Stannis, Design Director, twisthink
Gordon received his degree from The College for Creative Studies (CCS) majoring in Product Design. He began his career in automotive interior design working for OEMs (GM and BMW) and Tier 1 suppliers (Prince/JCI).
He has lead projects for large clients in diverse markets including Siemens, Nokia, Stryker, Herman Miller, Steelcase, Dow Corning and Whirlpool. Gordon has also lectured regionally and internationally on the field of design.
Gordon currently leads Design and Strategy at the award winning product development firm Twisthink in Holland, MI.
He grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, moved to Sothern California and has called West Michigan home for over 15 years. Gordon is a community minded individual who supports a wide range of local and national organizations as an active Board Trustee, Special Advisor, Partner and Coach.
Lastly…Gordon’s favorite activity involves chasing his young daughters through double black diamonds out west.
Jennifer Leigh Zeerip, Founder, Salon Cheveux
Jennifer was born and raised in Holland Michigan and currently resides in Saugatuck. She graduated from Excel Cosmetology School in 1994, and has been in the industry for 19 years. She opened Salon Cheveux in 2001. The salon began with a small staff and has grown into 25 service providers. She spends a lot of her time mentoring and educating her employees on current fashion trends, customer service, and delivering professional products to the client. Salon Cheveux gives back to the community by supporting local charities and small business. When Jennifer is not at the salon she enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
