Konbit Mizik logoKonbit Mizik is a not-for-profit recording studio and music education/vocational training program with 501(c)3 status pending from the IRS.  Our mission is to empower, uplift, and educate Haiti's most vulnerable youth through the power of music.  Konbit Mizik also works as a record label and music manager with 0% commission exclusively for local, underprivileged artists with a positive message in their music.

Project Description: Six (6) Charity Performances at Schools, Hospitals, and Orphanages 

Konbit Mizik will coordinate performances for children at AVJ School, Hospital General, Tree of Life Orphanage, Centre de Medico, GEP School, Hope for Them School

The Tree of Life Orphanage, Inc. is a not-for-profit, Christian-based orphanage designed to care for the medical, educational, and social needs of fifteen children ages four to eleven.  The orphanage hires three mothers to care for the children everyday and a soccer coordinator to manage the soccer tournaments for the young boys.  With the assistance of an in-country coordinator, Bebe, the Tree of Life carefully assesses and manages the needs of the mothers, children, and volunteers. Tree of Life recently opened a new site in Sous Matelas, Haiti.  Donations made to the Tree of Life help to maintain the new site, as well as continue to provide the children with the resources they need to maintain good health, social interactions, spiritual growth, and academic success.

 


Jakmel Ekspresyon is a Community Arts Center located in Jacmel, Haiti. We strive to provide a safe space for all people to learn new creative skill sets, explore their creative voice and express that voice in a safe and non-discriminating environment. In the last three years, we have worked with over 100 community members. We focus on serving those who are traditionally marginalized in Haiti, including women, people with disabilities, and LGBT community members. 

We provide free programming in theater, painting and drawing, drumming, martial arts, screen printing and life skills.  We believe that providing resources to local artists will create a foundation to effect change in their community and bolster the local economy.

Haiti CommunitereHaiti Communitere
 targets several local communities in Haiti on a grassroots level; their mission is to address needs as they arise rather than enforcing pre-determined programming.  Haiti Communitere operates the Sustainability Resource Center, an epicenter for international groups who wish to launch projects within Haiti.  Haiti Communitere provides international groups assistance by helping them to navigate their work on the ground, taking great pride in lowering overheard costs for the projects in order to re-direct the cost back to the organization's original initiatives.



Kouraj is a gay rights activist group designed to empower and politicize the homoesexual and transgender community. Kouraj aims to educate the Haitian community about the rights of all homosexual, transgender, transsexual persons living in Haiti, so they no longer have to live in fear due to discrimination.  Kouraj is prepared to take the leadership role necessary to start making real societal change in Haiti.

Project Description: 2-DAY HIV Testing Outreach in Petionville Plas Boyer

∙ Loudspeaker announcements 1 week before event

∙ Staff will arrive at site and split into 2 teams - Sensibilization/Clinical

∙ Formation (how to use condom, how to prevent HIV, what kind of STDs exist)

∙ Pre-, and post-testing in private curtains or partitions 

∙ Transportation of patients to and from hospital

BUDGET (x 2 days):

∙ Staff (10 organizers x $25) - $250

∙ Authorizations (mayor, police, hospital) - $225

Goals HaitiGoals Haiti is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that uses soccer to engage youth in community work and education to improve quality of life today and develop new leaders for tomorrow.  Our soccer, community service, and education model improves health and well-being of players, families and communities.  Programs include local teams, health education, and scholarships.
