HACKBRIGHT TECH TALK:
Developing Software in Teams
- by Nick Avgerinos
Hackbright instructor Nick Avgerinos will be speaking about developing software in a team and the phases of a software project at Hackbright Academy on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
Light appetizers will be served at 6pm, and the tech talk begins at 6:30pm PST.
We will be LIVESTREAMING the tech talk for those who cannot attend in San Francisco - you can sign up to attend the tech talk virtually, or at Hackbright Academy in San Francisco!
About the Talk: Developing software while working with a team can be more challenging compared to when you're just working on a project by yourself. You'll be working with other teams, developers and non-developers, etc. There will also be meetings (lots of those), which usually means there will be some process involved.
This talk focuses on the various phases a software project will go through, from conception to release, and the who and what is involved at each step. We will review popular Software Development Methodologies that you may see out there (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban), discuss their similarities and differences, strengths and weaknesses. This talk will give you an idea of what type of development environment best fits your personal style, to help you better know if a company you're interviewing with would be a good fit for you.
This talk is targeted for people new to coding or the industry and focuses on what it means to be a "developer".
About the Speaker: Nick Avgerinos is an instructor at Hackbright Academy. He's been developing software professionally for over 15 years. Prior to Hackbright, he was a Director of Engineering at a gaming company, a systems engineer with Adobe and worked various companies in the VoIP, Wifi and ISP space.
