Share Hackathon for Social Good - Chicago

Event Details

Join awesome programmers, designers and strategists to work collaboratively to build programs and applications. The day will begin with short presentations by educators and non-profit organizations, followed by informational sessions on building sites and web applications to help benefit awesome non-profits:

The Gene Siskel Film Center:
The Gene Siskel Film Center presents the best in classic, independent and international cinema including international film festivals, retrospectives and documentaries. Many of these films you would never have the opportunity to see elsewhere. We will be working to help the theatre expand their reach to attract new audiences.  

Special Days Camp:
A summer camp that provides a safe and memorable camping opportunity in a medically supervised environment for children who have experienced cancer.

Chicago LGBT Homeless Youth Task Force:
The Chicago LGBT Homeless Youth Task Force’s mission is to work to end LGBT youth homelessness in Chicagoland.


08:30am - Coffee and Sign in

09:00am - Opening message; review the day's process

09:15am - Brief presentations from non-profit groups

09:45am - Brainstorm ideas for web and/or mobile tools or apps; Divide into groups to develop projects.

11:00am - Develop design, programming and production plan and assignments; begin design and development.

12:00pm - Lunch break

12:45pm - Project development

04:20pm - Present projects to judges

04:50pm - Hackathon winner announced

If you have a great coding and design mindset, put your talents to the task and help create tools to solve local community needs. Each of the Hackathon teams will compete to deliver the most compelling and appealing solutions, and the winning team members will be announced at the show.

The Hackathon for Social Good is lead by WebVisions, a nationally recognized event that explores the future of Web and mobile design, technology, user experience and business strategy.
