Programmers and designers at the Hackathon for Social Good in New York
MC Ben Berliner of Change.org hosts an all day Hackathon for Social Good at Adaptive Path's Austin offices. Join awesome programmers, designers and strategists to work collaboratively to build programs and applications.
The day will begin with short presentations by educators and non-profit organizations, followed by informational sessions on building sites and web applications to help benefit awesome non-profits including the The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Institute for Social Good and the Idelsohn Society for Musical Preservation.
9:30am - Coffee and Sign in
10:00am - Opening message; review the day's process
10:15am - Brief presentations from non-profit groups
10:45am - Brainstorm ideas for web and/or mobile tools or apps; Divide into groups to develop projects.
11:15am - Develop design, programming and production plan and assignments; begin design and development.
1:00pm - Lunch break
1:45pm - Project development
5:00pm - Present projects to judges
5:30pm - Hackathon winner announced
If you have a great coding and design mindset, put your talents to the task and help create tools to solve local community needs. Each of the Hackathon teams will compete to deliver the most compelling and appealing solutions, and the winning team members will be announced at the show.
