So... What is Hack City?
The entrepreneurial engine of VERGE – GreenBiz Group’s global event series focusing on the intersection of technology and sustainability – Hack City harnesses the power of business and technology by bringing together viable solutions, real market potential, large ideas, and larger creative talent. Hack City will move the needle on key environmental challenges impacting municipalities and cities.
For the 2nd year in a row, entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and business professionals will gather in San Francisco in order to problem solve, design, and develop applications as concrete solutions for issues pertaining to transportation, material resource use, and the water, energy, and food nexus.
This year we'll focus our sights on solutions that lend themselves to making our cities more resilient.
What do you mean by real pain points and real change?
A pain point is a problem, real or perceived. Entrepreneurs create opportunities by creating solutions to those pain points. Solutions create value for everyone.
Your pain point contributions will inform this year's Hack City SF challenges - these challenges will be put before a cross section of Bay Area leaders and officials during our Data Jam. At the Hackathon, coders and designers will create solutions that directly addresses these challenges.
But really, how can I help create real change?
Your building management (waste, water, electricity), transportation and civic issues are our next big project.
Come out. Meet cool people. Overshare.
Are there useful examples of past challenges and solutions?
Sure! Take a look at last year's winners.
Are you an entrepreneur or non-profit interested in shaping the conversation about where sustainability projects can impact large populations? This is the event for you.
Facilitated by the White House Department of Energy, the Data Jam is a facilitated brainstorm session for thought leaders, experts, investors, developers, entrepreneurs and executives interested in sustainability soltions. Confirmed participants include SF city officials, urban planners, non-profit organizers and sustainable business leaders.

We're coming down to the home stretch for Hack City!
WOW! We didn't expect the Friday's Kick off Tix to go so quickly.
I just released a bunch more tickest, so definitely do tell a friend (or a few) to come on down to talk about "Resilient Cities," #Cleanweb Technologies, the Salesforce Mobile SDK and lots of other cool geeky techy things that will lead to building some awesome projects over next weekend.
If you know anyone that just might be interested in hacking, please encourage them to sign up for the full weekend, as the price goes up to a flat $25 if they decide to regstiter on site.
See you all on Friday!
