We invite you to join us… in celebrating our first quarter century of building affordable home ownership opportunities in Suffolk County. 25 years and 165 homes later, we are asking for your help to make this very special celebration a success! On Thursday, March 13, 2014, Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk will hold our 25th Anniversary Gala at the Oheka Castle in Huntington. We are so proud to announce that we will be honoring:
All aspects of Habitat Suffolk’s history are touched upon by our honorees – from our founders representing the Mt. Sinai Congregational Church, to the attorney who helped draft our incorporation documents to secure the first property for Habitat Suffolk’s program, to our dynamic partners who help us finance each construction project and, last but certainly not least, our amazing volunteers who help make it all happen!
We look forward to you joining us... thank you!
Habitat Suffolk is a non-profit home builder creating affordable home ownership opportunities in partnership with low / moderate income families in need. Just last week we raised the walls of our 178th home in Suffolk County…continuing to fulfill the dream of homeownership. This milestone is achieved through the hard work of our dedicated board, staff, thousands of volunteers and the financial sponsorships of businesses, faith groups, foundations and individuals like you. Last year we proudly celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the completion of our first Habitat Suffolk home in Riverhead. We continue to be an important part of the solution to the affordable housing crisis by providing quality, affordable homes to hard-working families and their children.
Our ReStore is the only operation of its kind on Long Island. Your donation turns into decent homes for low income working families. If you are already a Donor or Customer – we thank you – and hope you will continue to “partner” with us. All of the items we stock and sell to the general public at our 22,000 sq. ft. ReStore warehouse in Ronkonkoma have been donated by generous, proactive, civic-minded business leaders and individuals like you. Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk adds the funds raised from sale of donated items to our Home Building Fund. Thus, in addition to being part of the funding for the new or renovated affordable homes Habitat Suffolk build each year, items purchased at ReStore, are used by our customers for the improvement of hundreds of homes throughout our community, rather than needlessly becoming part of the ever increasing stream of solid waste going into our landfills.
Habitat Suffolk believes in putting our faith into action by giving our deserving partner families a hand up, not a hand out. Habitat homes and affordable no-profit mortgages allow parents to focus on their careers, children on their education, families on their future. We not only meet an important need for affordable housing in our county, we work with our partner Habitat families through every phase of the process- from application to ground breaking to the move-in day.
The financial support we receive, in addition to the thousands of volunteers who assist us, helps us make a positive impact in many Suffolk County communities like North Bellport, Central Islip, Bay Shore, and Mastic Beach… to name just a few of the communities where we build from Wyandanch to Orient Point. Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk is not a giveaway program. It’s a partnership. Our mission hasn’t changed because the needs haven’t changed. Families are waiting, homes need to be built and renovated and communities need to be uplifted. Your support will give a hardworking, deserving family a safe and decent place to call home, a place to feel secure and a renewed sense of community.
