Join Habitat for Humanity on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. EST for a Twitter party. In anticipation of this year’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Haiti, we will discuss what it takes to build strong and vibrant communities. Now is your chance to join the conversation and find out how this work is being done – in Haiti and around the world.
Last year in Haiti, President and Mrs. Carter, who are Habitat’s most famous volunteers, led an effort to build 100 homes in Léogâne in partnership with families left homeless by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake. This November, the Carters return with nearly 600 volunteers to build 100 additional homes.
Moderated by @SocialGoodMoms, we will have Habitat representatives available to share first-hand information about our ongoing efforts in Haiti. Hear from Habitat Haiti (@HabitatInHaiti), Christopher Vincent (@CG_V), director of congressional relations and international affairs, Giovanni Taylor-Peace (@GiovanniTP), manager of Disaster Response field operations and Heather Lafferty (@HLaff9), CEO and Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Denver. By participating, you can discover how you, too, can help make a difference!
Together, we will chat about:
- Habitat’s earthquake recovery initiatives in Haiti and specifically how the Habitat community in Léogâne is now flourishing
- What it takes to build and strengthen a community
- Ways you can help with Habitat’s work in Haiti or in the community where you live
When & Where
Habitat for Humanity International (@habitat_org)
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization that brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Since 1976, Habitat has served more than 500,000 families.
Each year since 1984, former President Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, give a week of their time to help us build homes. The Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project helps to raise awareness for the critical need for simple, decent and affordable housing. The event is held at a different location each year and attracts volunteers from around the world.
