Wanderful Media would like to invite you to our next guest speaker event, scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 5:30pm. The featured speaker will be Chris Tolles, co-founder and CEO of Topix, the largest local forum site in the US.
A Silicon Valley executive and entrepreneur, Chris Tolles has launched multiple startups, helped raised over $20M in Venture Capital and has been integral in the successful exits of two companies. He has substantial experience in the areas of Internet Search, Online Community, Social Networking, New Media, News & Network Security.
Prior to Topix, Chris co-founded and was the VP of Marketing at Spoke Software, an enterprise social networking startup. He was one of the co-founders of NewHoo, which evolved into the Open Directory Project at dmoz.org after being acquired by Netscape. Post acquisition, Chris ran marketing for Netscape Search and AOL Music. His career started at Sun Microsystems, where he spent eight years in a variety of sales, marketing and management positions, culminating in running marketing for the Network Security Products Group.
Chris graduated from the University of San Diego with degrees in Computer Science and Economics. He is on the Dean's advisory council for the School of Social Sciences at the University of California at San Diego, and the advisory boards of Dealmaker Media and Pubcon. He is also an Angel investor in Blekko, Well.io and CharityBlossom.
