Many organizations have endowments that were established years ago by a one time gift from a generous donor, to honor a loyal volunteer or valued staff member or were put into place to support specific programs or scholarships. Other nonprofits have started new endowments as the result of a capital campaign. After the initial excitement around creating an endowment has died down, how does an organization continue to sustain the momentum to generate more gifts and grow its endowment?
Gail Ginnetty will share her experiences as a trustee and her work at the Rhode Island Foundation as a senior development officer. Joining her will be two staff members from nonprofits who have taken on the challenge of bringing more attention to the importance of building their endowments. In both cases these endowments have been in place for over 15 years.
