Great Columbia Quest
Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (EDT)
35 downtown sites. 15 pop-up challenges. Scavenger hunt-style. 3 hours on the clock. How well do you know your "famously hot" city?
Young professionals. Families. Friends. Colleagues. Competitors. History enthusiasts. We're looking for YOU to join us for the Great Columbia Quest happening Saturday, March 23 from 9 am – Noon. We'll kick off the competition on the grounds of the Robert Mills House (1616 Blanding Street). The Quest is a city-wide scavenger hunt inspired by The Amazing Race covering Columbia’s history through the city’s significant sites.
The goal: Teams of two will compete by foot to earn as many points as possible during the three hour time frame, competing for a variety of prizes.
The challenge: To visit as many sites throughout Columbia’s downtown district to answer clues and complete challenges.
The celebration: At the end of the three hours, contestants will join Historic Columbia Foundation at a finish line celebration at the Robert Mills House and Gardens for drinks, snacks and prizes.
Teams will be given a list of clues, each located at a different destination within downtown and each assigned a different point value. All clues will be located within the following parameters, east/west between Bull and Harden Streets and north/south between Blanding and Blossom Streets.
Designed for ages 10 and up (but all ages are welcome to participate). All sales are final.
Historic Columbia Foundation was founded in 1961 by a group of preservationists determined to save the Ainsley Hall House, known today as the Robert Mills House. More than five decades later, Historic Columbia Foundation manages four historic house museums and their associated artifacts, and tells the stories of people, places and progress in Columbia and Richland County.
