Mark's life as a professional economist, financial adviser, best-selling author, university professor, international speaker and conference producer.
Known as the “maverick” of economics for his contrarian and optimistic views, his sometimes-outrageous statements and predictions, Mark Skousen is a college professor, prolific author and world-renowned speaker. He’s made his unique sense of market and investment trends known and respected in the financial world. With a Ph.D. in economics and a focus on the principles of free-market capitalism and “Austrian” economics, Mark Skousen has often gone contrary to the crowd in his investment choices and economic predictions — and has often been proved right. Jo Ann Skousen teaches English Literature and Writing at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. She is also the entertainment editor of Liberty Magazine, the founding director of the Anthem Libertarian Film Festival, and associate editor of Mark Skousen’s Forecasts and Strategies, a financial publication. She speaks frequently at conferences across the country and around the world. Jo Ann has been married to her husband, financial writer Mark Skousen, for 40 years. In addition to collaborating on books and newsletters, they are the parents of five children. They have lived in Washington DC, the Bahamas, London, Florida, and New York.

The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii is an independent, nonprofit research and educational institution devoted to promoting the principles of individual liberty, free markets, and limited and accountable government throughout the state of Hawaii.
