Granny's Got Game IMAX screening
Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (EDT)
You are invited to see "Granny's Got Game"!
Granny's Got Game is a documentary film about a senior women's basketball team here in Raleigh. These fiercely competitive women in their seventies battle physical limitations and skepticism to keep doing what they love. The film follows them for a year as they compete for another National Senior Games championship. After two decades together, these women are more than a team...they are a family.
How much are tickets?
We are happy to be partnering with the Wells Fargo IMAX Theatre at Marbles to offer FREE admission to this event.
Will the film be in 3D?
We are very excited to be showing the film on the IMAX theater's 70 foot screen, but the movie will not be in 3D. However, you will enjoy seeing the action on the big screen and it will sound incredible!
We expect a big crowd and your ticket does NOT guarantee you a seat. Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-seated basis with ticket holders getting priority. We suggest you arrive early. The film will start at 3pm. The Q&A will start at 4:30pm. Then the second showing will start at 5:30pm. You are welcome to attend the Q&A if you plan to attend either showing.
How long is the event?
The total run time of the film is 74 minutes. The Q&A session after the film will start at 4:30pm in the adjacent Venture Hall and last for 30-60 minutes. (This Q&A session is optional but it will be your chance to meet the stars of the film!)
Is this film appropriate for children? Can I bring my kids?
The film is appropriate for all ages and kids are certainly invited! We want this to be an intergenerational event with people of all ages attending. If the child enjoys basketball enough to sit and watch an entire game, they should be fine for this 74 minute film.
Will I be able to buy popcorn and a drink for the movie?
The IMAX theater will be selling fresh popcorn and a variety of candy and bottled drinks.
I want to see the film, but I'm unable to attend this screening. Where else will it be shown?
We are currently scheduling community screenings in the Triangle and across the country. The screening schedule for the film is available on our website here.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Contact information is on our website here at the bottom of the page.
