GovCamp Canberra June 2012
Bruce, AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY
Govcamp Canberra will be on 5 June 2012 at the Inspire Centre Canberra.
A GovCamp is a somewhat 'unconference' event for people from government and people interersted in government to get together to share knowledge, learn, develop skills, network and find new opportunities to collaborate. It involves both structured and unstructured scheduling to get a good mix of current thought leaders and stories from the trenches.
The broad theme of the day is Gov 2.0, which is all about next generation ways of doing service design and delivery, public engagement and policy co-design, and open and transparent government.
GovCamp a day to collaboratively discover and design the future. To hear and contribute to the narrative of innnovation in government. It includes talks, discussions, panels and some basic workshops.
GovCamp is targeted at thought leaders, implementers and change agents throughout government but also those in the private sector and civil society interested in helping make government more awesome. People such as design experts, social media and online engagement people, public engagement specialists, technical and project managers, open data and visualisation people, developers, user experience and accessibility experts, change managers, service delivery and any others with a story to tell or a question to ask about technology use, innovastion and the implementation of Gov 2.0 throughout all levels of government in Australia.
The plan for this years GovCamp is to have a range of content from a large range of contributers across all levels of government. From the frontline and civil society right through to the most senior representatives in government. We are also explicitly getting several communities involved to have a good mix of perspectives, including the emerging and established communities around Gov 2.0 (open data, public engagement and citizen centric service delivery), change management, design, user experience and accessibility, digital humanities, bleeding edge technologists and more.
Each of these areas will be presented across three streams:
- Open Data - Analysis and Visualisation
- Public Engagement and Community Development
- Policy and Service Delivery Design
Content will include panels, talks (both pre-organised as well as unstructured time for people to propose talks on the day), and some workshops. Technical and more hands on workshops will be part of the HackFest the following day.
Campers can expect and contribute to topics likely to emerge across the three streams including:
- thought leadership on Gov 2.0
- case studies across all levels of government
- public engagement (including social media, community development)
- collaboration both in and external to government
- open data, standards, copyright, use and records management
- policy and service delivery design
- change management
- user experience and accessibility
- emerging technologies such as augmented reality and data visualisation
- mobile government
- policy and legal opportunties and challenges for Gov 2.0
The first GovCamp in Australia was October 2011 in Canberra, and there have since been GovCamp events in Sydney and Brisbane with more in planning around Australia.
