Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PDT)
New Orleans, LA
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
IF THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT ONLINE, THERE ARE STILL A NUMBER OF TICKETS FOR PURCHASE AT THE DOOR!
Goat in the Road Productions and the Cachet Art & Culture Program invite you to join us for a party in the (beautiful, magical) courtyard of the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. Your ticket price will include two drink tickets, distributed at the door.
Schedule of the evening:
7 pm - Doors open. Guests can explore the NOPM, and will receive 'Numb Money' to spend at activity stations that include old school dice games, back-alley bowling, a very funny fortune telling station (manned by CJ Hunt and James Hamilton from The New Movement comedy theatre), and an absurd peep show of theatrical oddities. Prizes for game participants range from a fresh slice of pie to a private concert with a bawdy troubadier.
8 pm - Performance Time! Modern-day entertainers including Aurora Nealand, Oops the Clown, Vinsantos, Ms. Asa Metric and more, present 19th century burlesque and beyond.
Why it's happening -
This fundraiser will benefit the upcomng, full-length original play, Numb. Inspired by the sights and sounds at the NOPM, Numb examines 19th century medicine and the early days of anesthesiology. The show explores physical and emotional pain, and how communities attempt to overcome pain through medicine and ritual. GRP has been developing Numb since January 2014 and is collaborating with a number of pain experts and public health thinkers in creating a conversation around our changing understanding of pain and its relief. Numb will run from November 7th through December 6th.
