Going from Good to Great: Building a Strong Board and ED Relationship
Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Executive Directors and board members are encouraged to attend as teams.
Going from Good to Great is a workshop for nonprofits interested in developing a stronger and more effective partnership between the executive director and the board of directors. This relationship is central to the success of nonprofit organizations yet often gets little attention.
Margaret Donohoe, author of The Executive Director’s Guide to Thriving as a Nonprofit Leader, will explore the components of a highly effective partnership and engage participants in a lively discussion of common concerns and how to develop realistic expectations and strong mutual understanding. At this workshop, participants will learn how to foster healthy dialogue on important issues, have a clear understanding of roles, and engage board members and executive directors to best further the mission of the organization. Refreshments will be served.
Margaret Donohoe is an author and frequent trainer for management support organizations, nonprofits, and professional development groups on the topics of sustaining nonprofit leaders, executive transitions, board-executive director partnerships, leadership and succession planning, and founder transitions. Donohoe has an MBA from Santa Clara University and has served as a speaker for the Alliance for Nonprofit Management and co-lead of the Executive Transition Management Affinity Group for over 10 years.
