Going Deep: David Rees on Over-thinking the Simple Things
Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
David Rees, comedian, creator and entrepreneur, makes a special appearance at Huge Brooklyn to talk about his unique approach to creativity and the offbeat humor that defines his genre-defying work from WIRED's Codefellas to Rolling Stone's Get Your War On.
Currently the host of National Geographic Channel's Going Deep with David Rees, hailed as "The best science show since 'Cosmos'," (VICE) Rees embodies geeking-out at its finest. A onetime political cartoonist who has performed with Louis CK, Todd Barry, Paul F. Tompkins and John Hodgman, Rees has also been described as a "phenomenal cult hero" (Variety), a "a Mr. Wizard anti-hero for millennials" (The Atlantic) and John Hodgman claims he's the "Dude [who] has made me laugh harder and think harder about life and art than anyone."
Rees will be joined by deputy editor of The New York Times Magazine, Bill Wasik, to talk about how anyone — designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs alike — can find inspiration in the banal and the power of over-thinking everything we take for granted.
