Event Details

Escape to South East Asia for an evening of cultural learning, delicious curries, and entertainment. Join us for authentic Malaysia food at Atlanta's long standing non descript establishment, Malaya. Special buffet dinner just for Go Eat Give guests will include popular favorites: vegetarian spring rolls, KL Mee Goreng (spicy stir fry noodles), Goreng Daun Selaseh (fresh basil), Nasi Goreng (Malaysian fried rice), Kari Fish (curry fish with okra), Rendang (dry curry beef), steamed rice and sesame balls.

Guest speaker for the event will be Mr. Fabian De Rozario, Principal of GlobalConnect and Senior Consultant at Korn/Ferry International. Fabian is a Malaysian immigrant to the United States, who has been recognized as Who’s Who in Asian American Communities in Georgia. Fabian was the President of National Association of Asian American Professionals, and currently develops and facilitates learning programs in the subjects of leadership, diversity & inclusion, cross-cultural capabilities, and workforce engagement.

Watch Layang Emas (Dance of the Swallows) by Jennifer Lee & Emily Sun. This is a beautiful court dance that is said to have derived its movements from that of the swallow (layang-layang). A slightly more seductive and flirtatious dance, that has clear shoulder and hip movements. The dance also uses a long scarf that is tied to a belt at the waist. This scarf is held very lightly by the thumb and forefinger and raised to the sides to the dancer giving the appearance of wings. This dance is always performed by women only.

Ticket includes dinner, tax, tips, speaker and entertainment. BYOB as the restaurant does not have a liquor license. Free parking will be available on site. Portion of proceeds benefit the nonprofit, Go Eat Give, that supports community development efforts internationally.
