The Queen of Sheba was a monarch of the ancient kingdom of Sheba and is referred to in Yemeni and Ethiopian history, the Bible, the Qur'an, Yoruba customary tradition, and Josephus. Learn about Ethiopia's rich culture, cuisine and music with Go Eat Give, at this namesake Atlanta area landmark.
For starters, you will be served a savory sambussa (fried pastry shell filled with lentils, onions and green peppers) followed by traditional Ethiopian vegetarian and non vegetarian platters with more than eight different wots (stews of lamb, beef, chicken and vegetables) to dip the injera (bread made from gluten-free flour called teff). A traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony will follow.
Keynote speaker, Brook Teshome Gebre will tell you about Ethiopian customs and traditions. Gebre was born and raised in Addis Ababa. He studied Law and worked for a NGO in Ethiopia. He is currently working as an intern at the Carter Center in Atlanta, while pursuing a degree in Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University.
Tickets include non alcoholic beverage, family style dinner, coffee, tips, taxes, speaker and entertainment. A portion of proceeds benefit Atlanta based nonprofit, Go Eat Give that raises awareness of different cultures locally and globally. Full refund available until 24 hours prior to the event.
Please bring donations of used books for Books for Africa, whose goal is to end the book famine in Africa. All kinds of books are acceptable.
