Global Day of Coderetreat 2012 - Norfolk
Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (EST)
Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event focused on the fundamentals of software development and design. The unique coderetreat format (which eliminates the pressure of 'getting things done' and focuses on practicing basic principles of good design) has proven to be a highly effective (and fun) means of skill improvement.
UPDATE: More information regarding Coderetreat can be found in this interview with Corey Haines.
About the Global Day of Coderetreat
For 32 hours on December 8th, Coderetreats will be held all over the world as part of the Global Day of Coderetreat. The Global Day of Coderetreat helps to raise awareness of Coderetreat and brings people together from all over the world. Most importantly, the Global Day of Coderetreat helps to support global efforts to find, encourage, and educate the next generation of software developers (through the Coderetreat Community Contribution Fund).
Last year, 94 cities participated. This year, we anticipate approximately 200 cities will participate with about 3,000 developers worldwide!
To celebrate this significant event, we will participate in some global activities in addition to our normal coderetreat activities. Afterwards, stick around and we'll all go out to dinner or for a few drinks. It is going to be a lot of fun!
Registration is now open!
You only need to bring a laptop with the development tools you require to write code using your chosen programming languages. Coffee will be provided and we are working on finding sponsors for lunch.Check out coderetreat.org for further details on what to expect.
