Event Details

The BR Capital City Rotary Club and Monika Olivier invite the community to join them for a Global Community Day Celebration on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from   1 – 6pm at North Blvd. Town Square in downtown Baton Rouge. Everybody is invited, especially the children, to explore cultural exhibits from around the globe, identify international flags and try ethnic foods. You can ask for a free World Visitor Pass and travel from country to country to learn about different cultures and get your passes stamped. Members of Baton Rouge’s international community, dressed in colorful clothes, will perform traditional ethnic dances from around the world.

To date representatives from the following countries are participating: China, Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Honduras, India, Ireland, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Scotland, Swaziland, Turkey, and Ukraine.

If you have never seen a Native American teepee – this is your chance to learn about America’s oldest culture.  Bagpipers start the event, and Henry Turner. Jr. and Flavor’s band end it with a bang.

The event is sponsored by BR Capital City Rotary, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Entergy, Francis Nezianya/Subway, the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, 225 Magazine, Henry Turner, Jr. and Flavor, and the Rotary Club of Baker.

We enthusiastically invite your participation to make this event a success and take one small step toward achieving peace and non-violence in our community and around the world.

This is a joint project between Rotary and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge’s “Sunday in the Park.” The event is free and open to the public. Join us and bring your friends.
