GIVE HOPE: A Night Benefitting Midland Children in Need Presented by Valtek Industries

Thursday, April 12, 2012 @ 6:00pm

Midland Community Theatre

2000 W. Wadley, Midland, TX

We don't want you to miss out on this fun-filled and heartfelt fundraiser benefiting some remarkable community groups who make a difference in our community.  It’s an evening of outstanding music, amazing food, drinks, and hopefully competitive bidding on some exceptional items.  You will also be able to meet some of the amazing people that have kept these much needed community programs operational, but THEY NEED OUR HELP… and here is how you can make an impact on Midland’s children’s lives!

Midland Kids in Need via Buckner International:

·     This program provides weeknight and weekend meals to food insecure children enrolled in the MISD.

·     Definition of food insecure - is when the child is unsure if there will be a “next” meal.  Kids are identified through their school based on participation in MISD’s free or reduced lunch program.  This program guarantees the child will receive two meals a day Monday thru Friday.  However, availability of food is unknown on Saturday and Sunday while the children are home.

·     According to MISD, in Midland alone there are over 3,800 children that are food insecure.

·     According to the Texas Hunger Initiative, a Baylor University based organization; there are 18,590 children in Midland County that are food insecure.

Hillcrest School:

·     Mission – Hillcrest School provides a specialized learning environment for students with learning differences.

·     The Leadership Midland Class of 2012 has committed to donate sweat-equity to Hillcrest School, but we need some help raising funds for supplies.  Planned projects for Hillcrest School are outlined below:

·            Multi-Purpose Room Rehab

·            Multi-Media Broadcast Room – Backdrop Stand Construction
